The Bengals have listed both Ahmad Brooks and Caleb Miller as doubtful for the Monday night game against the Patriots. These are the top two middle linebackers for the team this season.
With Rudi Johnson already out, things just keep getting worse. The Bengals are going to need all the help they can get against this Patriots offense but you never know. I’m hoping guys step it up and bring home a win.
It was already going to be a tough matchup but with these guys sitting it out, it just makes it tougher.

Barring a miracle, Rudi Johnson will not be playing against the Patriots. Rudi is one of the most durable backs in the league and it takes a lot to get him out of a game, let alone miss one.
It’s obviously bad news for the Bengals. Everyone is just going to have to step it up. But if the defense gives up a lot of points, the offense was going to be throwing a ton anyway.
I think most people expect the Patriots to embarass the Bengals. I’m not really sure what they can do to that would be more embarassing than giving up 51 points to the Browns but we’ll see. I’m hoping that the Bengals step up and show that they can be a contender. 2-2 to start off the season wouldn’t be bad. 1-3 won’t be the end of the season but it will make it much harder.

The Bengals have waived Keiwan Ratliff. He was a second-round pick by the Bengals in 2004. He has played 51 games with the team.
From what I hear, the team thought he lacked toughness. You could probably say that about a few more players.
The team signed Blue Adams to take his spot. Ratliff had said in training camp that if he was going to be the fourth cornerback, he would rather be released. I guess he got his wish.

With the injury to Rudi Johnson and the possibility that he might miss the next game, the Bengals signed RB DeDe Dorsey. Dorsey was waived by the Colts on September 1st.
Dorsey started his career with the Bengals in 2006 as a college free agent. He rushed for 149 yards in the preseason that year.

A close game for the second week in a row. At least the score wasn’t in the 40’s and 50’s. So the defense did play better, just not on the last drive.
The Bengals D did intercept Hasselbeck twice and did a decent job on Shaun Alexander early on. Alexander recovered to rush for 100 yards and although Hasselbeck threw two INTs, he also tossed three touchdowns.
It was a close game all the way. The teams took turns regaining the lead from the other. Carson threw for 342 yards but he also threw two interceptions. The Bengals did take the lead (21-17) with 2:42 left in the game when Kenny Watson ran 8 yards for a touchdown. He was filling in for Rudi Johnson who was injured earlier in the game.
Then it just derailed from there. Shayne Graham shanked the following kickoff out of bounds so the Seahawks started on their own 40. Leave it to the Bengals to set themselves up to lose. The defense actually had the Seahawks at fourth-and-one but Alexander then broke off a 14 yard run and Hasselbeck followed with a touchdown pass to Nate Burleson to go up 24-21.
So for the second week in a row, the Bengals offense would have to drive down for a score with little time on the clock. With 1 minute to go, the Seahawks kicked off to Glenn Holt who got slammed by Lance Laury and fumbled. The Seahawks recovered and ran the clock out. At least Palmer had a chance to lead the team down for a score last week. No such luck this week. And the team had all three of its’ timeouts left too.
The Bengals turned the ball over 4 times; 2 interceptions by Palmer and two fumbles (1 from Houshmandzadeh and the 1 from Holt). That makes it very hard to win.
After giving up 51 points to the Browns last week, 24 to the Seahawks isn’t terrible. They just made things hard on themselves by giving Seattle such a good starting position on that final drive. Then, of course, by fumbling the next kickoff.
T.J. and Chad had big games. 12 catches for 141 yards and a score for T.J. and 9 catches for 138 yards for Chad. Kenny Watson ran 9 times for 60 yards and a touchdown but he was the only positive on the rushing side.
Leon Hall did get his first interception and newly signed Dhani Jones added 5 tackles.
The Bengals could easily be sitting at 3-0 right now which is very frustrating. To be 1-2 with New England coming up next just doesn’t look good. If they can beat New England, they might be able to turn things around this season but they won’t be able to play sloppy. The special teams just sucks. Sucks, sucks, sucks.

Police in Florence, KY found a car that was reported as stolen in Chris Henry’s driveway.
An officer spotted a car he did not recognize parked in the Cincinnati Bengal’s driveway, ran the license plates and discovered the car had been reported stolen by a rental-car company.
Henry told investigators that his own vehicle had been stolen in Louisiana, where he is from originally, and he rented a car from Hertz.
From what I understand, Henry thought his insurance was paying for it. Hertz didn’t receive any payment for the car so they reported it stolen.
Are the police just hanging out at Henry’s house? They have to be looking at his driveway quite a bit to see a car that they don’t recognize. Granted, Henry has brought most of this upon himself with all of his troubles but still. It just sounds like they’re trying hard to catch him doing something.

The Bengals have signed free agent linebacker Dhani Jones to a one-year contract. The team had just released lineback Andre Frazier.
Jones has played seven seasons; four with the New York Giants and three with Philadelphia.
Hopefully he can come in and help out the defense. It can’t really get any worse than that last game can it?

It’s true, the loss to the Browns hurt (statistically and emotionally). But the season isn’t over. The Bengals are 1-1 and have several big games coming up. If they can get some of these tough wins, it will go a long way to prep them for the playoffs (assuming they make it).
They have a good shot against Seattle but it will be the New England game that is the most scary. If Cleveland can put up 51, just imagine what New England might be capable of.
